2024 Asia’s 50 Best Bars List Announced

On July 16, the 2024 Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, sponsored by Perrier, was unveiled in Hong Kong. The awards ceremony was held in collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board. This year's list features bars from 18 cities across Asia, with 15 new entries, showcasing the innovation and excellence in the Asian bar industry.

Bar Leone in Hong Kong Takes the Top Spot

Hong Kong’s Bar Leone made a remarkable debut by securing the top spot and winning both The Best Bar in Asia and The Best Bar in Hong Kong awards. Additionally, Bar Leone received the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award. Founded by bartender Lorenzo Antinori, this bar captivated the judges with its simple yet vibrant Italian-style cocktails.

Notable Special Awards

In addition to the rankings, several special awards were announced:

Rémy Martin Legend of the List Award: Singapore's Atlas bar won this award for its spectacular Art Deco style and a towering gin collection featuring 900 brands. Atlas also received the Bareksten Best Bar Design Award.
London Essence Best New Opening Award: Hong Kong's The Savory Project was honored for its innovative cocktails.
Roku Industry Icon Award: Yangdup Lama of New Delhi’s Sidecar was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the industry.
Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award: Singapore's Fura bar was awarded for its low-carbon footprint and commitment to sustainability.
Campari One To Watch Award: Bangkok's Dry Wave Cocktail Studio was named the bar to watch in the future.
Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award: Taipei's Nest by Pun won for its themed cocktail menu.

Regional Highlights

Hong Kong: Nine bars made the list, including Coa at No. 4 and Argo at No. 9.
Singapore: Dominating with 11 spots, Jigger & Pony ranked third, and Nutmeg & Clove placed sixth.
Seoul: Zest ranked second, with Bar Cham and Pine & Co also featured.
Tokyo: Bar Benfiddich secured fifth place, with Virtù and The SG Club also making the list.
Bangkok: BKK Social Club ranked seventh, with Vesper and Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar also listed.

Taiwan Bars Shine

In the 2024 Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, Taiwanese bars showcased their unique creativity and exceptional cocktail craftsmanship, becoming highlights in the bar industry.

NO.30 Vender (The best bar in Taiwan)

A vending machine-themed craft cocktail bar in Taichung, jumped to the 30th position and was named The Best Bar in Taiwan. Its innovative design and unique drink selections have made it a representative bar in Taichung and Taiwan, attracting many cocktail enthusiasts.

-The Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award is a prestigious international accolade that recognizes creativity and innovation in cocktail menus worldwide. The judging panel, comprising senior representatives from 50 Best and 28 Academy Chairs of The World’s 50 Best Bars, evaluates entries based on five core criteria: design and layout, storytelling, innovation, range of drinks, and communication of the bar’s identity.

Taiwanese bars not only achieved outstanding rankings this year but also demonstrated excellence in creativity and quality, injecting new vitality into Asia's bar industry.

Special Recognitions

The awards ceremony also honored several professionals for their exceptional contributions to the Asian bar industry. For instance, Dohyung 'Demie' Kim from Seoul received the Altos Bartenders’ Bartender Award.
